Term Reflections…

I currently study in Bellerbys College and am in the Business Foundation Programme in the second term. I’m studying Business Math, which is somewhat like math, but with a slight business twist to it. Aside from business math, English, and since I am inEnglandis very crucial to help me improve my English and allow me to expand my business even further. Lastly, I also study CIT which stands for Core Information Technology. In context, it allows me to be able to use a computer better.

The subjects do diverse from each other through many aspects. Firstly in terms of Business Math and English, it is pretty clear as Math has to do with numbers whereas English is a language subject. In my honest opinion however, I prefer English over Math due to the fact I really do not fancy math and find it difficult. CIT on the other hand is enjoyable because one gets to use a computer to do things, unlike the other two which you do on paper. This term is quite relaxed as there are only three subjects allowing me time to do other things.

I have learned many things this term, such as the importance of a computer and why it is important for business. Without a computer, a business would most assuredly fail. Math also is vital, without math the world would fail. Honestly, nearly the whole world runs on math, hence without math, the world would be chaotic. Besides that, I have also learnt to discover the importance of English and have tried to talk with proper sentences.

The challenges I have faced are actually split into two, academic and non-academic. In terms of academics, my biggest challenge is math. Even though I am in the Business Foundation Programme and numbers are a major importance, I still struggle with Business Math. Hence, making this term more challenging for me than my other classmates. The university I intend to get into requires me to get at least 65 percent for my Business Math, thus I will do all I can to be able to achieve this mark or higher. Non-academically however, I face problems with the culture here inEngland. It is very different fromMalaysia. Not for the worse though, for the better, the people here are friendlier and more accommodating compared to those back in my country. They have many parties all over the UK when something grand happens. For example the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton, this caused parties all overBrighton. This feeling of patriotism and happiness for one’s prince and princess is truly refreshing.

When I first got of the plane atStanstedAirport, I had a bitter-sweet feeling in me. Sweet because I was coming to England the get a better education, yet bitter as I was definitely going to miss my homeland and England wasn’t necessarily the most kindest place in terms of the weather. Many things however changed when I got to Bellerbys College. I was first scared of the place in general, the size of it made me feel intimidated. As time progressed, I had begun to realize thatBellerbysCollegewasn’t so scary after all. The people were friendly and the teachers were nice. The teachers were so nice, that I actually preferred them to the teachers back home.

In terms of relationships, I met many people from my country and others. The people here are friendly and thus there are very little problems with anyone. I met people from the very cold Russia to the very hot Hong Kong. In general, the people here tend to mix with their own country mates due to the language barrier. However, people here are not racial and thus they also be-friend people from other countries.
